Name

The Wave Muscat Golf Academy

project information

In the midst of a sculpted desert links golf course designed by Greg Norman, the Academy House at The Wave Muscat stands as a retreat and respite from the surrounding sand hills. The interior design looks to Muscat itself, drawing from a physical sense-of-place defined by rugged mountains and deep blue waters, and a cultural landscape rich from centuries of trade. Omani stone is used throughout, while extensive use of timber detailing and wall cladding pays homage to a long history of timber dhows. Stitched leather detailing adorns sliding doors and joinery, mashrabiya of Arabic patterns screens rooms and views, and the rich fabrics of the upholstery and furniture all embrace the colorful and diverse environment of the souk. Like the souk, the Academy House at once embraces the rich history of Muscat, while simultaneously serving as a modern-day place to come together.
